The PD Ports Group is a leading ports and logistics company with key locations around the UK. Aware of the role they play in environmental protection, they commissioned ClearLead’s consultants to help maintain their ISO 14001 certification, the internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems (EMS).  We advise senior management on the actions required to achieve compliance as well as on corporate governance and communication strategies.  

Our consultants Emma Goodchild and Claire Bushell work closely with the Group on legal compliance assurance, staff engagement, and continual improvement of the EMS.  We also facilitate group-wide PESTLE/SWOT workshops with a range of stakeholders to identify risks and opportunities and determine mitigating actions.

PD Ports made a further commitment in 2019 to achieve certification to the energy management standard ISO 50001.  We carried out a detailed Energy Review to identify significant energy users and forecast future usage, then worked with technical and operational staff to find energy-saving opportunities, which we formalised into Energy Objectives and Action Plan.  Certification was successfully achieved within extremely tight timescales.

As well as external recognition of their energy management systems, as an additional benefit, PD Group used their certification to comply with the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), thus saving the expense of standalone energy audits under the Scheme.
