Severn Waste Services is the public face of municipal waste management in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

ClearLead Consulting UK have been retained consultants to Severn Waste Services on a long-term basis, supporting with their Quality, Environmental and Safety (QES) Management System. This first entailed developing an integrated ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 management system. Over the years the support has involved updating systems to current ISO standards, including transition to the 2015 versions of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and the migration to the new standard for occupational health and safety management systems, ISO 45001 – to which standard Severn Waste Services were one of the first waste management companies to achieve certification.

Since then we have continued to support with legal compliance assurance, continual improvement, and the development of annual Objectives & Action Plans.  A three-year rolling programme devised by ClearLead comprising environmental compliance audits of landfill, material recovery and energy from waste facilities ensures sites comply with legislation surrounding air emissions, water discharge, hazardous waste, and other elements.   ClearLead also conducted energy auditing to comply with Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) in 2019.

We also provide a legal update service to track a wide range of new and amended legislation, guidance and consultations across environment, energy and health & safety. We review a range of sources to ensure we track changing requirements and identify those of relevance to Severn Waste, ensuring all relevant legislation is captured.
