Due to our continued success and continuing growth, we have a vacancy for a Senior Consultant with strong experience of conducting environmental legal compliance and ISO 14001 audits and related work.

Title:                                 Senior Environmental Compliance Consultant

Location:                         Flexible with a preference for North West, North East or Midlands as these locations align with our client base: (Home-based or option to be office-based near Exeter)

REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Environmental Compliance Consultant (typically 4 to 8 years’ experience, though flexible for more/less for the right candidate), who is able to operate under their own initiative and who take the technical lead for a range of environmental compliance and management system related tasks.  These will include internal audits, compliance audits, development of legal registers, carbon footprinting, development of environmental and energy management systems and associated employee awareness training.  

Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong technical, project management and business development experience and be effective communicators with strong interpersonal skills. 

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the following:

Essential:

Degree or Masters in an Environmental or other relevant subject, and ideally a Full or Practitioner member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).  For early career professionals, evidence of working towards full membership status would be seen as an advantage.

Experience in conducting a wide range of environmental audits of industrial, commercial and / or public sector facilities.   Formal qualification in environmental auditing preferred, ideally as an ISO 14001 Lead Auditor and /or Registered as an Environmental Auditor with IEMA.

Good knowledge of environmental legislation across all media including permitting, water discharges, waste management, energy management and nuisance.

Strong report writing skills in particular with regards to audit reporting and writing audit findings

Good IT skills with advanced experience in MS Excel spreadsheet methods for various types of analyses.

Good presentation skills and will be comfortable communicating findings up to Board level.

A proven track record in and an aptitude for business development.

Excellent command of spoken and written English. Second languages an advantage.

Desirable:

Experience of corporate sustainability and the development of sustainability strategies.

Carbon footprinting and carbon management experience.

Experience in the development and delivery of environmental awareness and technical training.

Positions will be based in either ClearLead’s Headquarters in rural Devon (just outside Exeter), or will be home-based, subject to demonstration of an aptitude for remote working.

Title:                                 Senior Energy Consultant

Location:                          Flexible: South East England, South West England, North West England, Scotland (Home-based or option to be office-based near Exeter)

REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Energy Consultant (typically 4 to 8 years’ experience, though flexible for more/less for the right candidate), who is able to operate under their own initiative and who take the technical lead for a range of energy-related tasks.  These will include energy audits and surveys, feasibility studies, technical due diligence, energy management, monitoring and targeting, energy and water benchmarking, carbon footprinting, development of energy and carbon strategies (including Net Zero Carbon) and employee awareness and training.  

Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong technical, project management and business development experience and be effective communicators with strong interpersonal skills. 

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the following:

Essential:

Degree in an Engineering or other relevant science-based subject, and ideally be a Chartered Engineer and member of a relevant professional Institute (such as the EI, IChemE, IMechE, IEE, CIBSE, or similar). Members of the EI Register of Professional Energy Consultants, Chartered Energy Managers, CIBSE Low Carbon Consultants, or other ESOS-specific qualifications are especially welcome.  For early career professionals, evidence of working towards Chartered status would be seen as an advantage

Experience in conducting on-site energy assessments, audits and surveys of industrial, commercial and public sector facilities.

Evaluation of the performance and cost-effectiveness of energy efficiency technologies, for use in industrial, commercial and public sector facilities.

Good knowledge of current and future drivers for energy efficiency, including SECR/MGHG Reporting, CCA, EU-ETS, EU EPBD, EU EED/ESOS and Building Regulations.

Excellent command of spoken and written English. Second languages an advantage.

Strong report writing skills relating to energy efficiency technologies, and the results of energy assessments.

Good IT skills with advanced experience in MS Excel spreadsheet methods for various types of analyses.

Good presentation skills, and will be comfortable communicating findings at all levels

A proven track record in and an aptitude for business development is an advantage.

Desirable:

Experience of low and zero carbon technologies and techniques including CHP and renewable energy technologies will be viewed as an advantage.

Experience in the development and delivery of energy awareness and technical training will be an advantage.

Job Title:                           Graduate Intern

Location:                          East Devon

REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for a graduate who will work alongside our experienced team of consultants and support them in the delivery of project related tasks. This role is likely to have a specific focus on the delivery of strategic environmental assessments and sustainability appraisals but if may also include providing support on projects including  for example, energy management, carbon footprinting and net zero strategy development, renewable feasibility studies, data analysis, GIS, energy and water benchmarking, and ESG strategies and reporting.  

Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong analytical and numerical skills and be well organised and effective communicators with strong interpersonal skills. 

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the following:

Essential requirements:

A scientist or engineer qualified to a degree-level or higher ideally with a strong emphasis on environmental planning and sustainability or energy and/or carbon related issues.

Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative as well as working effectively as part of a team

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Computer literacy including familiarity with the Microsoft Office, (in particular Excel)

Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills

Desirable:

Post graduate experience in the sustainability / energy and/or carbon management sector.

Familiarity with GIS packages

Experience working in the environmental, sustainability or energy sector

Full driving licence

The location can be flexible, but is likely to be based predominately in offices in East Devon or Manchester.
